From retro floral print to Y2K mini skirts, inspiration from our favorite (and least favorite) fashion decades are back in 2022. As much as I try to focus on building functional wardrobe, I also love to research new trends to explore sustainable ways to incorporate them into my existing wardrobe. We’ve all heard it before: fashion has a history of repeating itself so if you’re interested in exploring some of these trends this year, I encourage you to check out secondhand stores. Join our thrift challenge in March and replicate a look for less with thrifted items. For now, here are five of this year’s biggest everyday trends that you can easily find at secondhand stores. As always remember: wear what you love, whether it’s considered to be “trendy” or not!
Quilted, Embroidered Crocheted Knits
Knits and embroidered pieces are a thrift store staple. I like to balance it out with a casual look with light wash jeans.

VOGUE RUNWAY / CHLOÉ

70s Inspired Florals & Psychedelic Prints
I. Am. Here. For. This. Trend. I have always loved retro floral print and seeing this pop up everywhere in retail stores makes me so happy. This dress reminds me of this set I recently found at Goodwill.

VOGUE RUNWAY / MISSONI

Folk Lace
We’ve seen this trend several times over the years, so it’s definitely already in circulation at secondhand stores.

Purple
Very Peri is the Pantone color of the year so don’t be surprised to see a lot of purple in fashion and home decor this year.

Flatforms
They’re calling it the “kid sister” to chunky sandals and heeled platforms. Easy to slip on and easy to find at thrift stores! I found these at Goodwill recently.
