What makes a thrift store truly stand out? Is it size? Pricing? Location?
We all have our favorite qualities. So, if you’ve ever heard me exclaim, “This thrift store is amazing!” these are the common traits that make these gems a thrifter’s paradise.
A Store That Caters To All Shoppers
This is by far the most important feature for me. I love thrift stores that cater to all shoppers. The best thrift stores are the ones that have a variety of everything: furniture, kids clothing, vintage, brand name, shoes, games, home decor, and so on.
80% Off Retail Prices
If we’re raving about a thrift store, just know the prices are 80% or more off retail pricing.
Bright, Well- Lit Spaces
Proper lighting in a thrift store is one of those things that most people overlook but it’s extremely important. A bright store is more cheery and makes the second-hand experience feel more like a mainstream retail one. Extra bonus points for natural light.
Wide aisles
Nothing is worse than a thrift store with narrow aisles. If two people can’t go down the aisle at the same time, there’s something wrong with that picture. I don’t mind tightly packed racks but tight aisles bother me and will deter a non-seasoned, impatient thrifter from coming back again.
Fitting Rooms
This might seem obvious, but many thrift stores lack fitting rooms. If the store doesn’t have fitting rooms, then they should offer a return policy.
Extra discounts and rewards
Thrift store prices are already incredible but it’s even more exhilarating when they offer additional daily sales, loyalty programs, discounts at check-out, including student and senior discounts, as well as coupons.
