Read for a Greener Akron Summer Challenge

If you’re looking for a free summer activity for kids in Akron, join Dina Younis, author of S is for Secondhand and Keep Akron Beautiful for the Read for a Greener Akron summer reading and sustainability challenge. This event is sponsored by in-part by Towpath Credit Union.

Free Family Kickoff Event in akron:

Enjoy a live reading of S is for Secondhand, hands-on activities, and receive your official My Greener Akron challenge passport to complete throughout the summer.

Kickoff Event Schedule:

  • 10:30 – Welcome
  • 10:45-11:15 – Story reading
  • 11:15- 12:30 – Crafts, My Greener Akron Passport pickup, visit with vendors like Tansy Recycling and more!

How the Challenge Works: Over six weeks (May – July), families can complete simple activities like reading, reusing, donating, planting, and helping keep Akron clean. Drop off your completed passport anytime between June 15 – July 10 to Keep Akron Beautiful (850 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44305) between the hours of 9AM – 4PM. Completed passports earn a prize and entry into our grand prize raffle basket.
