I Wrote a Book! Introducing S is for Secondhand: A Children’s Book That Celebrates Thrifting and Sustainability

The day is finally here!

My first children’s book, S is for Secondhand is officially available for purchase.

This project has been a dream come true.

The book is beautifully illustrated by the wildly talented local artist, Nadia Alnashar and is formatted by longtime Akron advocate, Keeven White.

Thrifting and Secondhand Have Always Been Part of My DNA

Growing up, hand-me-downs, rummage sales, and outlets – they were part of everyday life. As a kid, I knew I probably wouldn’t be getting the latest mall trends, so I loved the creative aspect to thrifting, and would challenge myself to hunt for pieces that felt like me, even if they weren’t what everyone else was wearing.

In college, I leaned into thrifting for financial reasons. It became a way to express my love for fashion while staying with a student budget.

And now, as an adult and a mother, I embrace secondhand living for everything it offers: creativity, affordability, and sustainability.

I wrote this book to celebrate that lifelong love and to introduce the next generation of readers to the magic of secondhand. I want my children to proudly embrace it the same way I did.

The book features everything I love: bold colors, local talent, themes of secondhand, and most importantly: my two kids.

Whether you’re raising little treasure hunters, introducing sustainability at home, or just looking for a unique and meaningful book for a teacher or loved one, I hope S is for Secondhand finds a place on your shelf.
